The City of Columbia is pleased to announce that major park improvements are underway at the Ridley Sports Complex in Columbia, TN. The addition of seven (7) new tournament quality soccer fields may be used for multiple sports uses along with the related amenities planned as a part of the sports complex expansion. The sports complex improvements are expected to be completed in time for soccer season in fall 2017.

The new soccer complex area will feature a championship soccer field with permanent bleachers, a press box, and a combination goal/goalpost. The championship field is also being built with an underground drainage system to reduce the impact of rain and severe weather events on the championship field, maximizing tournament play following from inclement weather so that scheduled tournaments may proceed as much as possible.

All fields will include sports field lighting, Bermuda grass turf with irrigation, close proximity to expanded parking and a new concession/restroom facility with meeting rooms.

As planning and development of the sports complex moves forward, the City of Columbia Parks & Recreation Department will continue to build upon existing sports facilities at the sports complex working with the new Columbia Sports Council. Investments at the Ridley Sports Complex provide citizens with new sports fields funded by increased an increased level of tournament activity.
Growing tournaments and sports tourism
attraction is a major element in the
development of the city's new marketing and sports tourism program. With a positive impact anticipated for the local economy, tournaments are expected to bring increased dollars to Columbia with new and larger teams and events hosted at the growing Ridley Sports Complex due to expanded capacity.
