The City of Columbia Fire Department was founded in 1868. Since that time we have relied upon our personnel, city administrators, citizens, and elected officials combined with state-of-the-art equipment and techniques to protect the lives and property of our citizens and visitors to our city. The Columbia Fire Department utilizes the power of its 90 professional firefighters strategically located throughout the city in five fire stations to deliver our services in a professional, timely, and efficient manner.

From the time the Columbia Fire Department was established until the present, we have striven to provide the highest level of service to our citizens and visitors. We currently hold an Insurance Service Organization rating of 3/9.

The Columbia Fire Department consists of four divisions: Administrative, Prevention/Investigation, Suppression and Training. Each division strives to complement each other in order to provide the best service possible to our community.
