Honor Guard

The Columbia Fire Department Honor Guard was established in 2002 to provide honorary recognition of service by individuals to the fire profession. In conjunction with the Chaplain, the Honor Guard does funeral detail, which includes guarding the casket, transporting the casket and the graveside flag folding ceremony. The Honor Guard also presents the colors at civic functions and other public activities.

Each year in September, the Columbia Fire Department conducts a ceremony to honor those in the state of Tennessee who lose their lives in the line of duty. Included in each ceremony is a moving tribute to those who lost their lives in the September 11 terrorist attack. The Honor Guard plays a large role in this ceremony, which includes the traditional "last bell" presentation.
