City of Columbia elected officials and administrators spent the day at the US Capital on March 13, meeting with the city’s Congressional Delegation. City officials discussed issues of interest to the City government and Columbia citizens and businesses. Topics discussed with legislators included infrastructure funding, federal grants to which the city has applied, rural broadband and online sales tax, among others.

The Columbia City Delegation included Mayor Dean Dickey, Vice Mayor Dr. Christa Martin, Council Member Mark King, City Manager Tony Massey and Assistant City Manager Thad Jablonski. The group met with Senators Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker and Representatives Marsha Blackburn and Scott DeJarlais. Members of the city’s Congressional Delegation provided feedback and offers of support across all areas discussed. The visit with legislators took place during a conference of the National League of Cities. City officials agreed that the meetings with Congressional officials was the most productive trip ever of its kind.

City officials appreciate being so well received and express a special thanks to the city’s Congressional representatives. The photo above shows US Senator Bob Corker with the City of Columbia Delegation.
