The Columbia Police Department

Hereby recognizes and Awards

Officer Keith Fall

The

Police Star

For outstanding professionalism distinguished by bravery above and beyondthe normal demands of duty.

In that on September 5th, Officer Fall did respond to a reported suicide at 827 Iron Bridge road. Further that upon investigation, discovered that the alleged victim; Mr. Jeffery Olive was in fact alive and had within his reach a loaded semi-automatic handgun. Further, that though faced with a potentially deadly force situation, Officer Keith Fall  maintained a confident calm speaking with and calming Mr. Olive, successfully influencing Mr. Olive’s behavior so that Mr. Olive delayed an attempt to reach the weapon until officers were positioned to respond. Further that Officer Fall  did exercise remarkable restraint and discretion, responding with a lesser level of force, effectively deploying the M-26 Advanced TASER, incapacitating Mr. Olive without injury or further escalation of force. Officer Keith Fall’s performance in this stressful and hazardous situation exemplify the highest standards of the Columbia Police Department.
