Alarm Appeals
The purpose of the Alarm Appeals Board pursuant to the City’s alarm ordinance is to hear appeals related to violations of the alarm ordinance.

Architectural Design Review
Provides review and recommendations regarding the visual quality and aesthetic characteristics for construction of commercial and industrial structures.

Beer Board
The Beer Board is responsible for the review of all establishments selling beer on and/or off premises and for wholesale distributors with in the City of Columbia. Reviews all new beer permit applications as well as review any establishment and/or responsible party that have been brought forth before the board for review of any ordinance violations. Holds authority to award, deny, suspend or revoke any beer permit as outlined in Columbia City Beer Ordinances.

City Council
The City of Columbia is governed by a seven-member City Council/City Manager which includes a Mayor and Vice Mayor. Voters in each of the five wards elect a Councilmember, and the Mayor and Vice Mayor are elected by voters of the entire city. Each Councilmember serves a four-year term. The City Manager is appointed by the Council and has no term limit.

The Civil Service Board serves as a due process body, hearing any and all appeals to disciplinary action taken pursuant to the City’s personnel policies.

Columbia Housing Board of Appeals
Supported by the Building Codes Division, this appeals board conducts hearings on property under demolition orders by the court or city.

Maury County Regional Airport Authority
The Maury County Airport Authority operates the Maury County Airport with three board members appointed to represent the City of Columbia, Mount Pleasant, and Maury County.

Planning Commission
Advises City Council on future growth patterns and development issues that affect the City. The Commission reviews and makes recommendations to Council on Comprehensive Plan items, redevelopment plans, changes in development regulations, requests to rezone properties, annexations, and reviews preliminary site plans, group housing plans, and subdivisions.

Public Utilities-CPWS
Public Utilities Board – also known as Columbia Power and Water Systems - oversees the city’s waterworks facilities, broadband infrastructure, and electrical transmission systems.

Sports Council
The mission of the Columbia Sports Council is to define Columbia and the surrounding area as a premier sports/recreation destination by creating new events, capturing new sports business, and cultivating the growth of sustainable annual sports and recreation events.

Wastewater Appeals
The Wastewater Appeals Board applies policies, procedures, and requirements for the City of Columbia Standard Sewer Specs, Oil and Water Separators, and Sand and Grit Separators. board meets only as needed when an appeal has been filed.
