The Narcotics and Vice section consist of two units; the Narcotics Unit and the Criminal Intelligence/Gang Unit, both supervised by a lieutenant.
Narcotics Unit
The Narcotics Unit is responsible for investigating the illegal sale and distribution of controlled substances and other vice associated criminal activity in the City of Columbia. The Narcotics Unit utilizes intelligence resources to help rid the community of illicit drugs and prostitution.
Criminal Intelligence / Gang Unit
The Criminal Intelligence/Gang Unit is responsible for criminal intelligence gathering, processing, and dissemination of information regarding gang members, as well as non-gang related criminal information. Information sharing is also a key component that is critical to the effectiveness of the Intelligence Unit and the Department's overall objectives.
