President Polk Home Closed

President Polk Home Closed
Posted on 03/18/2020
To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, the President James K. Polk Home & Museum will join museums across the nation in temporarily closing to the public, effective March 18, 4 p.m. through March 31, in the interest of the health and safety of our staff, guests, and community. We will continue to evaluate and consult with local officials regarding a safe date to reopen.

The closure includes regular tours of the Polk Home, the Sisters’ House Visitor Center, the Museum Shop, and Polk Presidential Hall. The annual membership luncheon, scheduled for April 25, will also be postponed. Staff will continue to work normal hours as long as individual employees feel comfortable and well enough to do so.

Like other nonprofit museums, we do not make this decision lightly. At this time the health of our community and those across the nation is of critical importance. We encourage you to connect with us via our Facebook and Instagram accounts during the closure as we continue to fulfill our mission online.
